KiliDestination Adventures is one of the best safari operators in Tanzania offering mountain treks, wildlife safaris, cultural tours, and beach holidays across East Africa. We reinvest profits into local education through its foundation, creating meaningful, community-driven travel experiences.

Our mission to support locals began in 2014.

Kelvin was Steven, Chris, and Jeff's Guide - In November 2014, Kelvin, a guide from Arusha, met Steven, an engineer and philanthropist, along with Chris and Jeff from California. Kelvin shared how most tourism profits leave Tanzania, underpaying local workers. Steven proposed a locally owned, mission-driven tour company to keep earnings in the community and invest in English education to close the pay gap between porters and guides. After the tour, Steven built the website and funded the launch, while Kelvin led operations in Tanzania. Since then, there has been no looking back.

Kilidestination Education Foundation

Better Education for Tanzania -We’re committed to reinvesting our profits into expanding educational access for the local community. With Swahili as the primary language, many porters earn significantly less, up to three times less than guides, due to limited English proficiency. To help bridge this gap, porters and their family members become eligible for fully paid English language schooling after completing 10 tours, supporting long-term growth for themselves and their children.

We do not accept donations. We believe the most impactful way to give back is by creating jobs and providing education, because lasting change doesn’t come from free handouts.

Thinking about starting your
own Micro-Finance Non-profit?

After traveling to over 100 countries, Steven recognized that people in developing regions often have the ambition but lack access to the right resources and operational know-how. Today, he initiated more than 15 locally run work-for-education nonprofits, including farms, tour companies, and schools, that empower communities like Arusha to reinvest profits directly into their local economies.

Launching a micro-finance nonprofit typically requires $10,000 to $20,000 in startup capital and can generate $100,000 to $250,000 in annual revenue in 5 years, with minimal direct involvement once operations are in place. If you’re interested in learning more or getting involved, feel free to ask Kelvin for Steven's contact. He’s eager to share his knowledge to help more local organisations drive sustainable growth within their communities.
